Programme Objectives

Specifically, the programme aims to equip students with an understanding of the following knowledge and skills:

Technology Management - Students will develop an understanding of the fundamentals of operations and quality management together with an appreciation of the need and mechanisms for resource conservation. They will be competent to apply this knowledge to keep abreast of future developments.

Computing Management - Students will appreciate in some depth the inherent significance of the computer in the management of technology. This will include an understanding of the role of a contemporary manager of information technology. It will also cover the concept of electronic commerce, how it should be applied to a business, the infrastructure requirements and security issues.

Generic Abilities - Students will develop general abilities of an intellectual, analytical and problem solving nature, and, in addition will have developed those common skills which are appropriate for a reflective technology manager. Within this framework, students should develop an awareness of the effects upon society of technical development and develop a proper sense of professional conduct in relation to society's increased dependence on technology.

 

Programme Structure

This is a fully online programme that delivers the 120 credit points at level 3, which are needed to convert the students from an Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies or Business Administration into a full B.Sc. (Hons) Technology Management and Computing Degree. The student has to complete the 6 core units and a project.

Career Opportunities

Upon graduation, students will be able to find career opportunities in Analysis Design, Business Network, Network Support, Software Engineering, Hardware Development, System Support, Information Sys Research or Development or Sales Marketing, Database Administration & Development, IT support, Programmer, Project Manager, IT consultant and Strategic Planner Manager for IT company.

Programme Structure and Duration
Academic Calendar: January, May & August
Duration:

7 weeks per module except for project which will run for 8 months.
Students are ONLY allowed to take 1 module at any one time, which will lead to a maximum of 2 modules for each exam sitting.

Programme Delivery:
  • Delivered through e-learning

Method of Assessment:

Expectations of Learners

On your course you will be expected to spend the following amount of time studying per unit:

For 10 credit point units (IT361 & IS363) you are expected to spend:

  • Self Study of lesson topic (50 hours)
  • Contribution to and reading of discussion boards (50 hours)

For 20 credit point units you are expected to spend:

  • Self Study of lesson topic (150 hours)
  • Contribution to and reading of discussion boards (50 hours)

In addition to this you are expected to attend at least 3 chat sessions per unit. A total of 120 credit or credits for the final year must be attained to earn the qualification.

Assessment Structure

Units taken on this programme are assessed by coursework and/or examination.
